GRANTEE PROFILE: Susan B. Anthony Project

Susan B. Anthony Project promotes safety, healing and growth for all survivors of domestic and sexual abuse and advocates for the autonomy of women and the end of interpersonal violence. Last year, 2,066 women, men and children received services for domestic and / or sexual abuse via the 24-7 hotline, court accompaniment (averaging 124 new victims monthly in Bantam Court) shelter and transitional housing, individual counseling and support groups. Community Educators provide prevention education programs to more than 7,000 students from Pre-K to 12th grade.
The Foundation for Community Health has supported the prevention education for Susan B. Anthony Project’s Community Education Program – Promoting Healthy Relationships to provide: Domestic violence and sexual assault prevention education programs for children and teens in Goshen and Warren; and Sexual assault prevention education programs for children and teens living in Canaan, Cornwall, Kent, North Canaan, Salisbury, and Sharon. The program falls under the Foundation for Community Health’s (FCH) behavioral health initiative, focusing on prevention in the form of educational presentations. With funding from FCH, SBAP is able to continue its comprehensive community education program for students attending pre-school, elementary, middle, and high schools in the 8 FCH towns.
