Why We Funded This
A study of community health needs conducted in Litchfield County in 2014 revealed significant concerns about a myriad of medical services available in our region. The solution? Federally Qualified Health Centers. Community Health & Wellness Center of Greater Torrington (CH&W) uses this approach to create healthcare corridors, offering a variety of care all in one place. This investment in local infrastructure can close the gap between attainable healthcare and under-resourced residents.
“These community-based centers are safety-net providers serving patients with limited or restricted access to health care. Typically offering primary care, dental care and mental health services along with supportive case management, they receive government funding that requires a sliding scale payment system and a governing board that includes patients… In 2022, Connecticut’s State Bonding Commission approved $3 Million towards the health center’s construction.”
